Does It Hurt?
It can be a little uncomfortable. Annoying seems to be the word most often used. Some people feel almost nothing, others are a little more sensitive.
Where Does It Hurt The Least?
I never tell. Every person is different. Also, your tattoo is for life, so I want you to have it where you want it, not where you think it might hurt the least.
Can You Do My Own Picture If I Bring One In?
About sixty percent of my work is custom. While some images simply aren't graphically suitable for tattooing, I can often redraw your idea into a workable design. I do many portraits, especially of children. The best photos to work from (for portraits) are usually three quarter view-- not profile and not straight on.
How Much Will It Cost?
The cost of your tattoo will depend upon the time involved in doing it properly. Things considered in the price are amount of detail, size, and location. Some areas (around the navel, inside of arms, and chest, to name a few) are a little more difficult to work on. A small Chinese character is usually $30 which is also my minimum. Remember, even a small tattoo involves two new needles, a razor (for shaving area to be tattooed), ointment, applicator, bandage, tape, pigment and set-up time. Tribal bands are charged by the inch, as are barbwire wraps and the like.
Do I Need An Appointment?
I'm happy to take walk-in clients, however I do a considerable amount of appointment work so it's always a good idea to at least call ahead. Also, if your work needs substantial drawing time you should bring it to me in advance.
Can You Cover Or Repair An Old Tattoo?
Cover-ups and repairing old tattoos is a large part of my business. That old, 25 year old tattoo can look better than new. And last year's lover can be dealt with too. We can't cover with flesh colored ink, but your cover-up doesn't necessarily need to be black.
Do you have privacy?
Absolutely.
How Long Does It Take?
Anywhere from a few minutes for a small tattoo, to multiple sessions for large, theme pieces.
How old do you have to be?
You must be eighteen. New York State Law and my own ethics prevent me from tattooing anyone under the age of eighteen.
Any other questions, call Uncle Bill at 518-726-6342. That's a local Plattsburgh, New York number!
